The Declassification Backlog of Historic Records (Cook)

 

Blanche Wiesen Cook, an eminent historian of American foreign relations, has noted that over two-thirds of previously declassified State Department material relating to U.S. involvement in Guatemala in the 1950s was reclassified in the 1980s, despite its use in published scholarly works.
